About the creation of the blog

This blog all started because of a friend and co-worker of mine named Emily.
Emily had been telling me about her blog last fall (2010).  She, along with her new husband, had started renovating the older house they purchased and she's been blogging about the progress.  Very cool.  YES!  After many months I finally got around to looking it up and reading it.  IT"S REALLY COOL!!

So, I started thinking...
I do so much visiting family & friends (in & out of state), chaperoning trips with the youth group or wandering around the local areas and much of the time with a camera in hand.   Maybe that would make a good topic for a blog.  I could be sharing these adventures with all my family and friends.  I love to travel and take pictures (sometimes to my family's disdain because I get a little camera crazy).  I have been blessed with many opportunities since I was a teenager to travel to places near and far.    Each road trip, flight, pilgrimage, missions trip or jaunt down the road is a moment to treasure.  None of us really knows what we will encounter each time we head out the door.  These times should be treasured.

"Travels to Treasure"?  Why this?  The name is two-fold.
1)   Treasure the memories of where we  have been and look forward to where we are going.
2)   Sometimes the travels reveal unexpected blessings.  Blessings from God are true treasures.

When and how do I start?  Luke and I have been fundraising for over a year for World Youth Day in Madrid, Spain.  Perfect starting point.  This will be a great way for  our family, friends and Parish family to follow our time there.  I started this in May with fundraising updates and as soon as we can we will start posting pictures and "blogs" about the experience we are having.  From there who knows where this will lead.

Just keep checking us out for updates and pictures as we continue to travel to places near and far.
